The Trustees of University of California, Irvine Foundation seek the best rate of return on the university's investments. At the same time it must protect the real value of gifts, generate income for current campus needs and provide for the institution's future. The university's portfolio includes equities, fixed-income, alternative investments and cash. The foundation hires outside fund managers to maximize investment performance.
Under guidelines established by the University of California, University of California, Irvine Foundation is required to hire a leading independent accounting firm to audit its finances on an annual basis. An annual return, Form 990, is filed with the Internal Revenue Service and is available for public inspection.
